2011 AIChE Spring Meeting Update

Exponent engineers spoke about industrial loss prevention and chemical process safety and chaired a number of sessions at the 11th Topical Conference on Gas Utilization and the 7th Global Congress on Process Safety at the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Spring Meeting in Chicago from March 14 through 16. The Global Congress included the 45th Loss Prevention Symposium, the 26th Center for Chemical Process Safety International Conference, and the 13th Process Plant Safety Symposium with over 700 international attendees representing HSE, Process Safety, Loss Prevention, and Risk Management professionals.

Fourteen Exponent authors from three different practices (Thermal Sciences/Chemical Process Safety, Human Factors, and Mechanical Engineering) contributed to eight technical papers with five oral presentations and three posters. Drs. Nicolas Ponchaut (Natick, MA) and Carlos Barrera (Menlo Park, CA) were co-chairs for sessions on LNG safety and Risk Assessment, respectively. Dr. Trey Morrison (Chicago, IL) was the chair for the Loss Prevention Symposium encompassing seven sessions over three days. Dr. Morrison will be the chair for the 8th Global Congress on Process Safety in Houston in April, 2012.
