Aging Buildings: Designing for Longevity

Dr. Ron Latanison, Group Vice President and Director, Mechanical Engineering & Materials Science Practice, will be speaking at the December 9, 2009 seminar: Aging Buildings: Designing for Longevity:  A Symposium on the Structural Steel Frame and the Glass Curtain Wall Enclosure.  The event, sponsored by the Architectural Engineering Institute (AEI) of ASCE, and the Steel Institute of New York, will feature some of the top presenters in the following areas:

 

  • Innovations in Building Envelope Engineering
  • Performance histories leading to innovations
  • Recladding to extend longevity
  • Engineering for corrosion
  • Effects of corrosion on mechanical properties
  • Performance lessons from forensic investigations
  • Longevity and sustainable design

Mr. David Peraza, Principal Engineer in Exponent's Building & Structures Practice is on the steering committee for this event. The seminar is being held at the McGraw Hill Conference Center in New York City.
