Exponent Engineer Featured at Smartcards in Government Conference

November 20, 2008

Mr. Brad McGoran was recently interviewed by Secure ID News magazine concerning Exponent’s smartcard testing work, with emphasis on the smartcard testing requirements defined by Federal Information Processing Standard 201 (FIPS201). FIPS201 was the result of Homeland Security Presidential Directive-12, or HSPD-12, the presidential directive that requires Federal agencies to enhance security by implementing a mandatory common identity management system for their employees and contractors.

Exponent performs physical, electrical, and reliability assessments of these smart credentials in accordance with the FIPS201 and related standards and advises government agencies and manufacturers concerning compliance, reliability, and performance. As mentioned by Mr. McGoran, Exponent also performs similar reliability evaluations of electronic passports, contact and contactless smartcards, payment cards, and associated readers and equipment.   Please click here to see the interview.
