Exponent is presenting two papers at the Eleventh NRC/ASME Symposium on Valves, Pumps, & Inservice Testing for Operating and New Reactors.  Both papers describe contributions to recent nuclear plant reliability improvement initiatives. The paper titled, “Systematic Evaluation of Significant Check Valve Application to Improve Reliability and Enhance In-Service Test Performance and Plant Availability” , authored by Vinod Sharma and Roland Huet, describes work performed at the APS - Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station. The second paper, authored by Vinod Sharma, is titled “Evaluation of RHR Pump Vibration and Solutions to Detune the System to Improve Pump Reliability and Reduce Uncertainty during Inservice Testing”. The paper describes work performed at Constellation Energy Group’s Robert Emmett Ginna Nuclear Power Plant. Vinod Sharma of our Mechanical Engineering Practice in Houston will present these at the Symposium on August 15-16, 2011 in Washington, DC.
