Exponent Principal Designated National Associate of the National Research Council of the National Academies

Dr. Richard Wade, Principal Scientist and Leader of the Center for Public Health & Industrial Hygiene has been designated a National Associate of the  National Research Council (NRC) of the National Academies (NAS). The honorary lifelong title is given to recognize extraordinary contributions through pro-bono service to National Research Council and Institute of Medicine programs in the advancement and application of science and technology. Since its inception in 2001, there have been 903 such honorary awards granted by the NRC/NAS. The NRC Chair designates individuals for this special honor under guidelines established by the NRC Governing Board.  Click here for information on the National Associates Program.

Dr. Wade has served on 13 NAS committees and served 8 years on the Naval Studies Board. The Naval Studies Board provides the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps with advice on science and technology applications to military planning and operations. Dr. Wade chaired two study panels on issues related to the role of US Navy forces in the global war on terrorism, and technological requirements for the large scale basing of U.S. forces at sea.
