Exponent's MARCbot Program featured in IQT Quarterly

August 23, 2011

Dr. Ken Zemach and Dr. William Cohen of Exponent's Technology Development Practice were recently featured in IQT Quarterly.  Their article entitled "The MARCbot: The Army Program that Revolutionized Robotics for Patrol Warfighters" discusses Exponent's development of the Multi-function, Agile, Remote-Controlled Robot (MARCbot) which was introduced as an inexpensive, mission-specific robotic platform developed for the inspection of suspected IEDs or suspicious materials throughout the urban and rural environments of Iraq. It was developed with the intention of providing route clearance, patrolling, and convoy warfighters an asset that could improve positive identification of IEDs at a time when that need was both critical and generally unaddressed.

Launched in 1999 as an independent, not-for-profit organization, IQT was created to bridge the gap between the technology needs of the Intelligence Community (IC) and new advances in commercial technology.
