Dr. James (Bob) Bailey, Senior Managing Engineer and Director of Exponent's Houston office, is part of a panel discussion at the American Bar Association's Tort & Insurance Section (TIPS) Spring Leadership Meeting held in Charleston, SC this week.  The panel will discuss: "Preparing for the Worst – Is the Nation Prepared for Natural Disasters?".

Abstract

Unfortunately, in the world around us today, we too often read about the devastating physical, emotional and economic loss from disasters caused by acts of nature. Experts from all disciplines respond to natural disasters and help us become better prepared to handle these disasters in the future. The experts on this panel have responded to these events on the bench, in the courtroom, and in the field in their respective disciplines and will assess national preparedness, the likely hot spots geographically and what can and must be done now to avert even worsened consequences.
