Radiogenic Cancer Risk Estimates

Dr. David Hoel, Principal Scientist in the Center for Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Computational Biology, is a featured author in the August 2009 issue of the Society of Risk Analysis (SRA) Risk Newsletter.  Dr. Hoel's article "Radiogenic Cancer Risk Estimates: EPA Update" discusses the December 2008 release of the EPA's "Radiogenic Cancer Risk Models and Projections for the U.S. Population" - commonly referred to as the "Blue Book".  You can read the entire article on the SRA website.

Dr. Hoel is internationally known for his work in risk assessment and has served on and also chaired numerous committees for the WHO and the U.N. as well as the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, the NIH, the EPA and the FDA. In addition to working with asbestos and chemicals, he is especially active in the area of radiation risk assessment.
