Mr. Bartels has an extensive background in electronic engineering and digital and computer system design. Mr. Bartels is responsible for the development, implementation, and testing of the multiple military application systems including the wearable computer platforms, MARCbot systems, as well as providing technical support/training to infantryman. Mr. Bartels also manages the development of support systems for the program and has developed specifications for future military and commercial applications.

Mr. Bartels is skilled in systems including IBM-PC (MS-DOS and UNIX), Peripherals, Architecture and Hardware, Berkeley Processing machine controls systems, Parker Motion Control 6000 Series, Allen-Bradley Motion control and Adjustable Frequency Drive Systems. He is also experienced in Serial RS 232C, EIA 232D, RS-485 and RS-422 programming, Ethernet and Token Ring CAN networking, and network communication systems engineering and programming. Mr. Bartels’ applications experience includes AutoCAD (Rev 09-2004) computer aided drafting, Parametric Technologies, (Pro-E, Pro-Cable, and Pro-Diagram) solid modeling System, OrCAD PCB Layout and digital simulations, PSPice, analog simulations, MathCAD, ViewLogic and COMPASS Tools, and VHDL Simulations.

Mr. Bartels has undergone training in Acuity Imaging IVS vision system Application development, Motoman SV3 six-axis Robotic Arm operation and programming, ADE series 350 (three axis robot and pre-aligner) maintenance and programming, and Kary Environmental Services Hazardous Chemical Awareness Training. He has also been awarded 5 United States Patents. Prior to joining Exponent, Mr. Bartels was a Senior Automation/Equipment Engineer for Sumitomo Sitix, where he was responsible for the overall operation, maintenance, and improvements of semiconductor equipment used in the manufacturing of silicon wafers. He also serves as an Aerospace Ground Equipment Technician for the United States Air Force Reserve.
