This investigation involved an alleged malfunction and defect of an automatic revolving door. The door sensors were alleged to have failed to detect the presence of the subject as she entered the threshold causing the door to trap her foot in between the moving and stationary portions of the door which may have caused her to fall and injure herself. The business employed the use of time-lapsed security camera located inside the building. However the incident was partially obscured and limited by the time-lapsed nature of the camera. By using detailed drawings and an inspection of the area, we were able to construct a 3-dimensional model of the incident scene. We were also able to place a virtual camera into the model at the actual measured location of the physical camera. This allowed us to match key frames from the security camera video footage, which included the location of the door and the subject at several instants contemporaneous to the fall.
