Professional Profile

Mr. Cano's diverse areas of expertise include the development of visual demonstratives, data mining, and civil and environmental engineering.

Mr. Cano has produced animations and graphics for explaining technical concepts in a simple and compelling manner. His work has been instrumental in educating people in several forums, including Markman hearings and trials at the State and U.S. District Court level. Some of the matters covered by these visual demonstratives concerned patented devices, industrial accidents, and construction cases. Examples of specific case subject matter include: 3D graphics processing cards, plasma display screens, semiconductor chip architecture and manufacturing, programmable logic devices, cellular communication, LAN/WAN switching and routing, cryoelectronics, flash memory drives, optoelectronic transceivers, ATM/Ethernet data packet processing, oximeters, coronary stents, airborne particulate matter, soil and groundwater contamination, and crane design.

Mr. Cano’s work as a database analyst supported the development of credit policy at a financial institution and product marketing initiatives at a computer entertainment company. His analyses addressed issues related to e-commerce web sites; customer acquisition, conversion, and retention; market segmentation and correlating purchase behavior; and the risk of financial default.

As a civil/environmental engineer, Mr. Cano’s projects include the preparation of Phase I environmental investigations, remedial investigations, and feasibility studies concerning adversely impacted groundwater and soil, and environmental management plans. He has conducted groundwater modeling studies, led field teams conducting air, soil and groundwater sampling, and investigated the integrity of a high-pressure water supply system. Projects include work for the U.S. Navy, the San Francisco Fire Department, the California Department of Transportation, and various commercial and industrial interests.
