Mr. Callow has over 14 years experience in the risk assessment of plant protection products, biocides, and chemicals, with over 10 years experience in the assessment of the environmental fate of such compounds, gained in both consultancy and regulatory authorities.
He is experienced in the provision of expert regulatory advice relating to the environmental fate of agrochemicals and biocides and representation and negotiation with EU regulatory authorities on such issues. Mr. Callow has been involved in the preparation of a large number of environmental fate assessments for European Union and EU Member State dossiers in compliance with the EU plant protection product (91/414/EEC) and biocides (98/8/EC) directives. He has developed strategies to address specific regulatory issues and monitored studies and prepared scientific reviews based on such studies. He has also performed a large number of standard and higher tier FOCUS ground and surface water assessments for submission to regulatory authorities. He has also participated in the provision of training and the organisation of workshops for clients and other bodies, including regulatory authorities.
Mr. Callow previously worked at the Pesticides Safety Directorate, the UK regulatory authority for pesticides. There he was responsible for evaluating data, writing monographs under both National and EU (91/414/EEC) legislation, and providing technical advice on environmental fate to industry and others. He represented the UK in the second round of ECCO meetings for environmental fate and devised a 1st Tier exposure model for the calculation of concentrations of pesticides in drainflow.
