Dr. Frankenfeld has more than 10 years experience in the design, conduct, and statistical analysis of epidemiologic studies. Her work has primarily focused in the areas of cancer and nutrition, but she has also published in other areas of epidemiology, including genetics, infectious disease, microbiological, and injury. She is also experienced in conducting critical reviews of the scientific literature. Since joining Exponent, she has provided epidemiologic evaluations and support in a variety of research areas, including benzene, sulfur dioxide, dioxins, asbestos, and electric and magnetic fields. Prior to joining Exponent, Dr. Frankenfeld conducted research at the National Cancer Institute, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and the Harborview Injury Prevention Research Center. At NCI and FHCRC, she worked on and published from more than six research studies in the areas of bacteria-related associations with cancer biomarkers and nutritional epidemiology. As part of this work, she designed and managed research studies, developed research protocols and questionnaires, conducted laboratory work, analyzed small and large-scale studies, and wrote manuscripts. At HIPRC, she was responsible for statistical analysis of a case-control study examining risk factors for falls.
