Recognition and Reward System

The Recognition and Reward System (RRS) is Exponent's annual review process. This system includes three main focus areas for employee performance expectations – Professional, Business/Client, and Leadership/Teamwork. Each focus area contains a number of different categories. Employees have an opportunity to set goals in each category and are evaluated for their performance against those goals.

Professional:

  • Verbal and Written Communication
  • Technical Knowledge
  • Professional and Corporate Development
  • Quality Assurance

Business/Client:

  • Client Relations
  • Project Management
  • Productivity
  • Business Development
  • Cost Control
  • Client Perception

Leadership/Teamwork:

  • Initiative
  • Mentoring
  • Leadership
  • Adaptability
  • Management
  • Teamwork
  • Positive Attitude and Cooperation
  • Ownership
  • Recruitment
  • Health and Safety

All Exponent employees participate in RRS. Each employee completes a self-assessment of their previous year's work and accomplishments. This gives everyone the opportunity to identify and reflect upon past achievements as well as possible areas for improvement. Managers will read and comment on their employee's self-assessments. Senior management then meets to discuss the accomplishments and reviews of each employee. At the end of this process, managers get together one-on-one with their employees and provide a formal review to discuss the evaluation of the previous year's performance and formalize goals for the upcoming year. At the conclusion of RRS, raises, bonuses, and promotions may be awarded.
