Dr. Clarke is a licensed physician, board certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine in Public Health/General Preventive Medicine. His areas of expertise include biological and chemical terrorism, health effects of indoor mold exposure, epidemiology, occupational health, international health, and infectious diseases.

Dr. Clarke’s clinical experience includes 15 years in a variety of settings ranging from Indian Health Service clinics in Barrow, Alaska, and Pine Ridge, South Dakota, to inner city clinics in Chicago and Baltimore. His clinical experience includes work in both Occupational Medicine and Family Medicine. Prior to receiving his training in Preventive Medicine at Johns Hopkins University, he worked for the Family Medicine Department of the Johns Hopkins Medical Service Corporation gaining experience in rural, suburban, and urban medicine.

Before entering the field of medicine, Dr. Clarke worked for the State of Illinois, Department of Mental Health, at the Institute for Juvenile Research in Chicago, where he designed and conducted research projects as well as performed and interpreted complex statistical procedures. During his residency in Preventive Medicine, Dr. Clarke worked at the Center for Civilian Biodefense at Johns Hopkins. He also continued to gain experience in occupational medicine working with the U.S. Army Center for Health Promotion and Preventive Medicine (USACHPPM).

In November 2001, Dr. Clarke completed the United States Army’s course in the medical management of biological and chemical casualties given at the army’s chemical weapons defense research facility (USAMRICD) in Edgewood, Maryland and the U.S. Army’s biological weapons defense research facility (USAMRID) at Fort Detrick, Maryland. Dr. Clarke is an Advanced Disaster Life Support (ADLS) instructor and is a member of the American College of Preventive Medicine’s Terrorism and Disaster Preparedness Committee. He is also a member of the Maryland State Volunteer Physician’s Corps and is a physician volunteer with the Missionaries of Charity at an AIDS hospice in Baltimore.
