Cost & Damages Analysis

Overview

Exponent’s construction consultants represent a multidisciplinary team that offers Cost and Damages Services. Our Cost and Damages Services team can assist in setting up project controls and administrative procedures, aid in maintaining contract and federal accounting regulations, and assist in all aspects of cost and damages assessment.

These services include, but are not limited to:

Incurred Cost and Damages Preparation and Defense

Our business consultants can provide a wide variety of cost analyses and audits to manage the “cost” side of claims and submissions to the highest level of professionalism and effectiveness. We are experienced with a wide variety of labor, equipment, extra work, disruption, delay, and inefficiency claims in all forms of informal or formal settlement processes.

Direct, Overhead, and Consequential Damage Analysis

Damages during a construction project can range from simple accumulation of material costs to complex analyses of the disruption impact due to multiple change orders. Exponent’s experience includes the successful preparation and review of additional-cost claims, inefficiency claims, extended and additional overhead claims, and lost opportunity costs, as well as the effect of a project on the business as a whole. The analysis of these items, performed in multiple approaches to fit the specific situation, are a core service of Exponent’s construction consulting practice.

In addition to direct losses on projects, there can be additional losses due to the loss of use, profits, and revenue, related to out-of-pocket costs, loss of market value, or other costs that require a higher standard of documentation and proof to become an acceptable, reimbursable loss. Exponent can work and coordinate with your financial and operations personnel to properly prepare or analyze these types of losses.
