Mr. May is experienced in design, development, validation testing, manufacturing and assembly, and field performance of heavy commercial vehicle chassis and powertrain components, assemblies, and systems including fuel systems, frame assemblies, battery supports, rear axle assemblies, wheel bearings and seals, engine accessory support and drive systems, cab and aft-of-cab access steps, tow hooks, splash shields, and chassis side fairings. His background includes the analysis and evaluation of heavy commercial vehicle steering and handling, brake systems, ingress/egress, ride, NVH, passby noise compliance, driveability, suspended seats, rear impact guards, rear suspensions, drivelines, backup warning devices, battery cable installations, and visibility. Mr. May is experienced with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) applicable to heavy commercial vehicles and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR), including roles, responsibilities, and regulatory requirements for participants in multiple stage vehicle manufacturing.

Prior to joining Exponent, Mr. May was employed by Ford Motor Company for 24 years as an engineer and engineering supervisor in heavy truck product development and 10 years as an engineer in product design analysis.
