Professional Profile

Dr. Greene is a board-certified toxicologist with 14 years experience in the field of Toxicology. Her primary interest and expertise is in mechanism of toxicity and metabolic activation (or deactivation) of toxins. Recent work has focused on computational toxicology—specifically structure-activity relationships to obtain insight into potential toxicity of unknown compounds. She has experience evaluating the potential toxicity of both exogenous and endogenous compounds in food and biomaterials. In addition, she has experience with US and EU regulatory systems, particularly in support of EU summary dossiers in compliance with EU Directive 91/414/EEC.

Prior work has involved examination of the toxicity and bioactivation of oxidized long-chain fatty acids, in vitro and in vivo experimentation with phase I and phase II detoxication enzymes, particularly epoxide hydrolase and cytochrome p450 1A1/2, as well as work with recombinant systems.

Work at Exponent has included state-of –the-art and mechanistic examinations of industrial chemicals and pollutants, including 2,3,7,8-TCDD, beryllium, and asbestos, among others. Dr. Greene has worked with the biomaterials industry on evaluation of potential toxicity of materials with long-term residence in the body. She has also worked with various food industry clients on exposure assessment and potential toxicity of chemicals in food-contact materials and in food and beverages, including lead and acrylamide. Dr. Greene has prior and current work experience evaluating the potential toxicity of new and existing pesticides. Dr. Greene has experience in risk assessment, design and execution of toxicological studies, method development, data collection and analysis, and exposure reconstruction.
