Mr. Stafford’s expertise is in the upstream oil and gas industry. As an exploration and development geologist, he has been involved in the development and drilling of oil and gas prospects in the Gulf of Mexico, the Williston Basin, and the onshore and offshore basins of California. His range of experience includes rank wildcat exploration projects in the Point Arena and Eel River Basins offshore California, and very mature oil and gas field development projects in the San Joaquin Basin near Bakersfield, California. Mr. Stafford is also an attorney in private practice, and he has represented clients in domestic and international oil and gas transactions and regulatory compliance matters related to the Pipeline Safety Improvement Act of 2002. He served as Vice President and General Counsel for a publicly traded oil and gas company on the NYSE, with operations in nine states. As an entrepreneur, Mr. Stafford acquired approximately 2,000 acres of oil and gas leases from Occidental Petroleum and directed the drilling of two exploratory wells to depths of more than 10,000 ft on the acreage.
