Dr. Yean has extensive experience in water resources engineering and watershed development and mitigation planning. He has provided a wide range of technical guidance on hydrology, hydraulics, sediment transport, water quality, flood control, erosion control, and urban runoff management for land development projects. He is also highly experienced in restoration and creation of wetlands, creeks, riparian corridors, and wildlife corridors for mitigation projects. Dr. Yean is also a part-time instructor at California State University, Fullerton. He has taught hydrology, hydraulic design, groundwater, and coastal engineering courses to senior and graduate students in Civil and Environmental Engineering Department, and instructed fluid mechanics and thermal dynamics experiments in mechanical engineering labs. Prior to joining Exponent, Dr. Yean worked as Senior Water Resources Manager at Fuscoe Engineering, Inc., which provides consulting and engineering services to cities, counties, land developers, and homebuilders for public works and land development projects. While at Fuscoe, he was responsible for conducting flood hazard, sedimentation, and debris flow studies for watershed development projects, and assisting biologists/ecologists on riparian corridors and wildlife corridors planning for environmental mitigation projects. Dr. Yean was in charge of water quality, groundwater, and GIS teams, and worked with consulting teams on the preparation of Environmental Impact Reports (EIR). He is also a hydrology consultant to the City of Laguna Niguel, California, reviewing and resolving drainage, urban runoff water quality, slope erosion and sedimentation, and hillside development issues.
