Dr. Jen specializes in the fields of geotechnical engineering, foundation engineering, and numerical methods in geotechnical engineering. She has worked for 14 years as a geotechnical engineering consultant in Boston, Massachusetts working on projects in New England and New York. Her experience includes geotechnical site investigation, geotechnical site characterization, site history research, interpretation of geotechnical laboratory and field tests, field instrumentation, design and performance evaluation of deep excavations in soft clay, deep and shallow foundation design and construction monitoring, retaining wall design and assessment, slope stability, prediction of excavation-induced ground movements, and settlement analyses. Dr. Jen has been a part-time lecturer for over 10 years teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in soil mechanics, foundation engineering, soil behavior, and geotechnical engineering design.
Dr. Jen’s specialty is in the design of deep excavations in soft clay, evaluation of excavation performance using numerical analyses, and evaluation of excavation progress based on field measurements. She also holds a master's degree in transportation with a focus in public transit planning and operation.
