Mr. Suen has more than 4 years of professional experience in human health risk assessment, exposure assessment, industrial hygiene, statistical data analysis, and literature research. Mr. Suen’s work includes conducting exposure reconstructions and simulations, and human health risk assessments. This work has involved a variety of substances such as, asbestos, fluorine-compounds, DDT, TCE, and benzene. Mr. Suen routinely performs environmental mold evaluations, providing recommendations for fungal remediation.
Mr. Suen’s previous work includes working with two-stroke engines and their effects to air quality and with the toxicological response of invertebrates to bioremediated creosote.

Asbestos Provided support on asbestos related litigation. Tasks included reviewing case-specific material and assisting in creating presentations and exhibits to present information that is easily comprehendible to a jury.
Participated in determining asbestos exposure in foundry operations due to handling and usage of refractory materials, including establishing what types and brands of refractory products would have had historical use in a foundry.
Compiled and analyzed studies on tremolite contamination of vermiculite and finished brake linings.
Examined the relationship between asbestos exposure and colon cancer.
Mold Perform fungal surveys on residential and commercial buildings, including conducting air testing and visual inspections.
Air Quality Investigated the efficacy of an air purifier to remove S. aureus in indoor air. For this project, a S. aureus slurry was nebulized in the testing chamber while air samplers connected to blood agar petri dishes collected the indoor air.
Risk Assessment Conducted occupational exposure reconstructions and risk assessments on asbestos, benzene, and various solvent products in the automotive, industrial, and maritime sectors.
Conducted risk assessment of retail workers at a strip mall for exposures to PCE.
Evaluated excess risks of disease (various cancers, birth defects, kidney and liver function, neurological disorders, etc.) following exposure to pesticides such as DDT, 2,4-D, 2,4,5-T, malathion, heptachlor, etc. following definitions set forth by the state of Texas.
Sampling
Collected wipe samples from china and dinnerware for determination of lead exposures.
Collected water, soil, and sediment samples for chromium testing.
Fluorine-Compounds Investigated exposures and health effects of exposure to fluorine-compounds used in the production of sparkling wine bottles.
Other Conducted a review on trifluoromethyl sulfur pentafluoride (CF3SF5), a newly discovered super-greenhouse gas present in the atmosphere.
Analyzed exhaust emissions from two-stroke engine equipped scooters and discussed their contribution to air quality in California.
Assisted the San Francisco Zoo with West Nile Virus vector control; used GIS to determine areas of concern and developed a database to monitor for future mosquito breeding sites in the zoo.
Conducted cost-benefit analysis on residential and commercial solar PV cell installation.
Researched Fusarium resistance in celery and broccoli that involved creating hybrid strains of the crop.
Investigated anti-cancer properties in broccoli using chimpanzees that involved growing broccoli sprouts to be supplemented to the animals’ diet.
