The MAVARC is a low cost soldier portable UAV for reconnaissance, surveillance and target acquisition (RSTA) operations in open, rolling, complex and urban terrain. Operators simply select waypoints and observation areas on a map and the MAVARC. It has semi-autonomous flight controls fly MAVARC along the designated route. MAVARC is equipped with a surveillance video camera and wireless data transmitter so soldiers can have real-time reconnaissance displays. Early MAVARC prototypes were tested in Afghanistan.
