Touch Sensitive — Skin contact with a broadening range of wearable products introduces new potential sources of irritation

Have you ever fallen asleep while wearing your earbuds or fitness monitor? Wearable technologies — such as activity monitors, headsets, smart watches, smart clothing, and smart glasses — contain synthetic materials and electronic components that can have prolonged contact with skin under close conditions. Such products contain metals, plastics, and adhesives that could leach chemicals that are known or suspected dermal sensitizers, particularly when wet from perspiration or washing, and induce an allergic contact dermatitis reaction in sensitized users. Read more.
