
With a background in computer science, Mr. Loftsgard has a working knowledge of the complete software life cycle including requirements, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and product support. His technical specialties include embedded software design and control systems.
Prior to joining Exponent, Mr. Loftsgard worked at Northrop Grumman, primarily focused on Unmanned Aerial Vehicle control software. He spent several years working on the Global Hawk UAV flight control computer. Mr. Loftsgard has extensive experience with the communications and power system control software and has spent time on all other portions of the flight software in development, test and debug.
Much of Mr. Loftsgard’s software development experience has been with Northrop Grumman, Raytheon and Exponent. As a result he has worked with many defense industry standards, such as 1553, 429, 1394. Similarly he has spent a great deal of time working to aircraft industry standards such as DO-178B and with the more common CMMI standards, including multiple transitions from unrated software processes to SEI level 3 processes.
