Also known as our roller coaster rail, the low dolly system releases a vehicle at speed onto flat or sloping terrain with any desired initial roll, pitch and yaw angle. The vehicle slides smoothly from the dolly onto the terrain with no elevation change. This system can be used to create rollover crashes from the trip stage on, including scenarios such as furrow tripping on inclined road edges and medians. This system can also be used for lateral pole impacts, such as for FMVSS 201P and certain real-world accident scenarios.

We recently added a system for creating controlled, low level deceleration over the last several feet of dolly travel. The deceleration simulates tire scrub or soil furrowing. With this system, occupant motions leading up to and during rollover can be investigated with a repeatable test. This feature can be used during development testing of side window curtains, or other occupant protection systems. We have applied similar pre-impact braking technology to our indoor sled facility.
