Dr Briggs has more than 22 years of experience in pesticide registration strategy gained in consultancy and with regulatory authorities. Mark has extensive knowledge of EU regulatory processes, has participated in various EU and OECD expert groups and is able to build constructive working relationships with regulators. He has a particular interest in biocontrol agents based on natural products and microorganisms. Dr Briggs helps clients with all stages of product registration and lifecycle management, from data generation to dossier submission and beyond.

Project Experience

Managed a trans-Atlantic multi-disciplinary team preparing a dossier for a Global Joint review of a new pesticide active substance.

Coordinated a task force and managed the preparation and submission of a dossier to secure the renewal of EU approval for an existing pesticide active substance.

Directed strategic regulatory input and support for the renewal of EU approvals of existing pesticide active substances.  This included managing multi-disciplinary teams performing data gap analyses, preliminary risk assessments, study placement and monitoring, reviews of the open literature in accordance with EFSA requirements, preparing dossiers in the required formats, preparation of application and new information documents, attendance of pre-submission meetings with Rapporteur Member States, dossier submission and providing post submission support.

Provided strategic regulatory support to clients seeking product registrations of conventional pesticides and biopesticides at the member state and zonal level.  This included data gap analyses, preliminary risk assessments, literature reviews, dossier preparation and submission; and post submission support.

Provided regulatory and strategic support to assist a client to maintain and develop a portfolio of products.

As a former UK delegate to the OECD Working Group on Pesticides, made a significant contribution to the development of global joint reviews of pesticide dossiers.  Coordinated an OECD workshop on lessons learned with the undertaking of joint reviews held in Bonn, 2008 and was a lead author for an OECD guidance document on the same subject.
