Mr. Davis has more than 20 years of experience in architecture and construction industry. His work primarily focuses on cause and origin investigations of building defects and damage related to building envelope and materials performance, repair and rehabilitation of building structures, construction defect analysis, construction defect and property claims, construction disputes, and building code analysis related to building structures.
Mr. Davis has performed investigations and consulted on residential, commercial, industrial, and public projects to include both low-rise and high-rise structures. Mr. Davis’ areas of expertise include investigation, evaluation, testing, repair design, and renovation of various building types throughout the country. Mr. Davis has investigated numerous building systems to include (but not limited to) brick and concrete masonry, natural stone claddings such as marble and granite, precast concrete, exterior insulation finish systems (EIFS), one-coat and three-coat cement plasters (stucco), hardboard, wood and vinyl siding, and roofing systems.
He has also investigated, tested, and consulted on the waterproof integrity and performance of windows and joint sealants within wall systems. He has personally performed field water testing of windows, doors, multiple roofing systems, flashings, patio and plaza decks, and a variety of wall systems to determine cause and origin for the purposes of repair/restoration as well as litigation support.
Due to his service at the International Code Council (ICC), Mr. Davis is also well versed on building code compliance issues related to life safety conformance for building egress, construction, building standards, and waterproofing and enclosure standards. Mr. Davis has consulted on cases requiring review of an Architect’s performance within the Standard of Care and peer review services.
Prior to joining Exponent, Mr. Davis was employed at architectural / engineering firms where he managed projects providing new design to repair / restoration services on structures throughout the country. Mr. Davis has designed several single-family and multi-family dwellings. He has also provided design and renovation services on multiple commercial and retail projects. He has also performed several Property Condition Assessments for industrial and commercial clients.
