Dr. Donthu assists clients in the areas of consumer electronics, semiconductors, medical devices, and renewable energy on issues related to materials selection, end-use testing, process evaluation, and technical due-diligence. He has worked as a technical development manager for a large mining corporation in Asia Pacific region advising small, medium and large-scale glass manufactures on raw materials selection, emissions, regulatory aspects and process development issues. Dr. Donthu is experienced in developing value-in-use (VIU) models to evaluate alternate technologies and to assist with commercial decisions. He has specific experience with failure analysis of plastics and their manufacturing processes, metallic components, high performance coatings, and materials science based risk-assessment of products containing nanomaterials and asbestos.

Dr. Donthu holds patents on electron beam lithographic fabrication techniques for ceramic and polymeric nanostructures and composite electrocatalyst supports for proton exchange membrane fuel cells. He is familiar with front-end microelectronics processes (device fabrication, clean room processes) and with different microelectronic packages, packaging materials, and processes. He has experience with both lab and industry scale glass manufacturing processes and understands the effects of raw materials on the glass manufacturing process including, glass quality, yield and industrial emissions aspects.
