Alison Gauthier
Alison Gauthier, M.S.P.H.
Senior Scientist
Health Sciences
Oakland

Ms. Gauthier has 4 years of consulting experience in environmental health, with specific research and project management experience in industrial hygiene, product sustainability, human health risk assessment, and toxicology. She has applied this background to projects involving retrospective occupational exposure assessments, product safety evaluations, and green chemistry issues in the context of alternatives assessment and product stewardship. Her research experience ranges from corporate sustainability metrics and reporting to qualitative and quantitative occupational exposure assessment.

In 2016, Ms. Gauthier graduated with a M.S.P.H. in occupational and environmental hygiene from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. She received her B.S. from the University of California, Berkeley in molecular environmental biology in 2010 and has also completed U.C. Berkeley Extension’s Green Chemistry Certificate Program and Johns Hopkins’ Risk Sciences and Public Policy Certificate Program.

Project Experience

Managed a project comparing various occupational and non-occupational hazard, exposure and risk assessment tools and their applications in corporate and regulatory settings. Evaluated the similarities and differences in methodology of chemical hazard evaluation between hazard assessment tools.

Conducted a study on the patterns of chemical deselection among regulatory agencies and evaluated the reliability of various prediction tools used in industry.

Developed a qualitative exposure assessment tool for use by industrial hygienists and other environmental health professionals at an aerospace defense facility.

Performed an engineering control intervention study of noise exposure as a result of compressed air nozzle use in a machine shop. Collected sound level and dosimetry samples from employees pre- and post-intervention and analyzed results with Bayesian Decision Analysis.

Investigated the regulatory aspects of metal-on-metal hip implants in the United States for litigation.

Evaluated literature on the history and use of anthophyllite asbestos and its associated health effects for litigation.
