Mr. Hubbard has a design background of more than 15 years in building mechanical systems design, facilities operations, and utility management. Design experience includes universities, museum renovations, research laboratories, residences, and high-rise commercial offices. Mr. Hubbard is a registered professional engineer in New York and he has significant experience as an engineering expert witness in construction litigation actions, which included assisting design professionals involved in complex projects. In many investigations, following identification of design and installation deficiencies, he has provided redesign and construction oversight for the projects.

Many of the building systems investigation projects involved allegations of mechanical system design errors, installation defects resulting in system failures, inefficient building performance, occupant comfort issues, and indoor air quality problems. The projects include multi-level medical facilities, schools, offices, and high-rise condominiums. The work involves review of design documents, specifications, equipment submittals, and installation verification. Mr. Hubbard has investigated mechanical system and building envelope design and construction failures throughout the country. 

Prior to joining Exponent, Mr. Hubbard was the owner’s representative for the United Nations Headquarters infrastructure renovation including mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, as well as the anti-terrorist hardening project comprised of curtain wall replacement and structural column redesign.
