Dr. Phan is an expert in electrical, computer and software engineering with emphasis on signal processing, data analytics, computational modeling, visualization, information security, and intelligent systems including smart grid and smart transportation systems. She has assisted clients in product development, intellectual property analysis, due diligence, failure and reliability analyses. She has developed knowledge-driven analytics pipelines for predicting likelihood of different scenarios and for determining statistical similarity or dissimilarity between multiple groups of data. She has also developed computational models for interpreting induced transmission line electromagnetic fields and lightning current paths. She has extensive experience in software algorithm development and software engineering best practices.

Dr. Phan’s doctoral and postdoctoral research focused on big data analytics. She has experience with developing prediction models using large scale datasets, handling acquisition related artifacts in data, and developing interactive visualizations for data interpretation and knowledge discovery. Her work led to novel algorithms for image segmentation, color normalization, and image description. She was a guest lecturer at Georgia Institute of Technology on topics such as signal processing, image processing, data analytics, and visualization.

Dr. Phan is proficient with MATLAB, has experience with several programming languages and development environments, including Java, C, C#, C++, R, Javascript, LabVIEW, VHDL, Verilog, and LTSpice, and with several open source software libraries, including OpenCV, Lucene, Solr, and D3. She also has experience with designing and developing interactive user interfaces for decision support systems.
