Dr. Salipur’s expertise is in the fields of injury biomechanics, occupant restraints, wheelchair transportation safety, and rehabilitation engineering. He has experience conducting vehicle and sled testing using anthropomorphic test devices (ATDs) to evaluate occupant kinematics, wheelchair crashworthiness and wheelchair tiedown performance, and occupant restraint system routing and loading in both the crash environment and under non-crash normal and emergency driving maneuvers. Dr. Salipur has additional experience developing and validating dynamic computer simulation models using MAthematical DYnamic MOdel (MADYMO) to evaluate occupant and wheelchair kinematics under crash and non-crash conditions.

Prior to joining Exponent, Dr. Salipur worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Injury Risk Assessment and Prevention (iRAP) Laboratory at the University of Louisville, where he received the Switzer Fellowship from the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR). Dr. Salipur also worked at the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI) and gained hands-on experience with crash investigations while working alongside a certified National Automotive Sampling System (NASS) investigator.
