Dr. Simeoni is an internationally recognized leader in fire science, from building fire protection to wildland fires. He has more than 15 years of experience developing experimental, analytical, and numerical techniques to better understand fire dynamics and to predict fire behavior. He has also spent almost 10 years volunteering and working for the Fire Department of North Corsica, France. Starting as a volunteer firefighter, Dr. Simeoni ultimately managed and led all aspects of fire, wildland fire, and rescue operations, in the capacity of Chief of Fire Station. He has particular expertise in wildland fires, specifically studying the fundamental thermal transfer, fluid mechanics, and combustion aspects of the problem for fire spread and people and structure exposure to fire.
