Dr. Stranic’s primary expertise lies in the fields of combustion, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics. Using both experimental and analytical methods, he has performed failure analysis on products inducing consumer electronics, vehicles, appliances, solar inverters, and solid propellants. He also developed techniques for assessing the severity of thermal runaway events in batteries. By combining evidence inspections, field data analysis, modeling, and experimentation, Dr. Stranic successfully developed a fundamental understanding of numerous complicated engineering problems.

Dr. Stranic’s background in mechanical engineering includes knowledge of chemically reacting systems, fluid mechanics, and spectroscopy. During his graduate studies at Stanford University, he investigated the chemical kinetics of novel biofuels using laser absorption techniques. He also served as a teaching assistant in both theoretical and laboratory courses on chemical kinetics at Stanford University. In addition, he performed peer reviews of journal articles in Combustion and Flame and Energy & Fuels.
