Robert C. Lange Rejoins Exponent as Group Vice President

MENLO PARK, CA, November 3, 2008—Exponent, Inc., (NASDAQ:EXPO) announced today that Mr. Robert C. Lange has rejoined Exponent as Group Vice President responsible for the Vehicle Engineering, Biomechanics, Human Factors, Data & Statistical Sciences and Visual Communications Practices.

Mr. Lange was most recently Executive Director for Vehicle Structure and Safety Integration and a member of the Traffic Safety Strategy Board for General Motors Corporation. In his roles at GM he has been responsible for structure and safety integration, advanced safety engineering, safety technology research and development, production program engineering for safety performance, defects investigations, consumer complaint records and reports, FMVSS rule making, products liability consulting, biomechanics and test dummies, safety policy, and consumer metrics.

Prior to joining GM in 1994, Mr. Lange was a member of Exponent’s consulting and executive management team for 12 years. In his prior career with Exponent (then Failure Analysis Associates), he became Vice President and Principal Engineer and was a nationally recognized consultant in the areas of automotive risk analysis, vehicle design, performance and testing. He started his career in engineering with Ford Motor Company.

Mr. Lange is a past member of the board of the National Safety Council, and the Automobile Coalition for Traffic Safety, and past chair of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Automotive Standards Board – Vehicle Systems. Mr. Lange has also served as a member of the External Advisory Boards of the US Department of Transportation ITS, The University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute and The Wayne State School of Biomedical Engineering. Mr. Lange holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan.
