A supplier of biological tissue contacted us for assistance in characterizing their tissue for a certain application. We performed a biomechanical assessment and evaluation of the application and determined the relevant mechanical characteristics. We then developed a test protocol focused on characterizing the tissue product against the relevant metrics. The protocol development included utilizing the client’s existing equipment at their location.
The application of biomechanical and structural analysis to the optimization of replacement human tissues:
- Determine the mechanical function of the target system
- Develop models of the target system functionality
- Develop mechanical specifications for the ideal replacement TEMP
- Determine mechanical function and properties of current or planned TEMP
- Assess current methodologies and technologies
- Propose modifications and/or alterations to TEMP to move it toward ideal
- Make recommendations for testing and assessment
