Construction & Infrastructure

From residences to commercial buildings; power plants; bridges, dams and roadways, Exponent is uniquely positioned to provide its construction and infrastructure clients with a diverse set of engineering, construction management, environmental and health consulting services. We work with many sectors of the industry including construction owners, lending agencies, engineering and construction contractors, subcontractors, designers, attorneys and insurance carriers.

Our primary service areas include:

The basic function of a building is to provide structurally sound, durable and environmentally controlled space to house and protect occupants and contents. If this basic function is not achieved, it is because one or more aspect(s) of the building design or construction failed to perform its intended function. Our architects, engineers, and scientists have been investigating structural and geotechnical design and construction issues for decades, and we use this experience to solve problems with building systems, materials, and components, including finding the best repair options and mitigating the risk of future failures.

Our building technology and mechanical specialists work closely with Exponent’s industrial hygienists to assess health claims that result from construction defects or maintenance as well as risk from environmental issues such as vapor intrusion.  Our projects include insurance claims investigations for large infrastructure projects as well as commercial and residential complexes.  We also have extensively supported the government, corporations and insurers when natural disasters strike.

Related to new construction or retrofitting, we provides project advisory, risk analysis, strategic planning, environmental assessment, dispute resolution, delay analysis and financial damages services. Our multi-disciplinary staff, which includes engineers, architects, construction managers, schedulers, accountants, and technical specialists, provides these services to both the public and private sectors for clients who represent a diverse mix of companies and agencies.
