Professional Profile

Dr. Tang specializes in the analysis of systems that require incorporation of multiple engineering disciplines and physics. She has extensive experience in conducting Finite Element (FE) analysis on complex structures, such as aircraft engines, power generator combustion systems, and electronic device assemblies. She had performed structural integrity evaluations, fatigue life assessments, and product design optimization for structures subjected to heat transfer, fracture, creep, buckling, dynamic impact, and random vibration, etc. Her expertise includes interfacial fracture mechanics analysis of composite materials and experimental mechanics. She also received extensive training in Design for Six Sigma and is a certified Six Sigma Green Belt from General Electric Company.

Prior to joining Exponent, Dr. Tang worked as a mechanical engineer in General Electric Company. Her responsibilities included performing analysis and product fatigue life assessment of gas turbine combustion hot-path and aircraft engine core structure rotating part components with various nonlinear features, and supervising and reviewing global engineers’ analysis work and results.
