Exponent’s Construction Consulting practice was retained to analyze contractors’ delays and impacts as they related to the life safety system installations and the concrete structure for the original tower of the Venetian Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The initial scope of work was $5.7 million for the life safety systems for the entire project. The client prepared and filed a $20 million claim for alleged impact costs. Exponent assisted in the analysis of delays and impacts related to this system’s installation.
In a separate dispute matter, Exponent analyzed the concrete subcontractor’s claim and performance related to the construction of the original $65 million concrete structure for the hotel tower. The concrete subcontractor alleged it experienced delays and impacts during construction of the tower for which it sought relief from Exponent’s client. In addition, Exponent has performed analyses related to cost and damages totaling $97 million for its client in regard to the overall construction and management of the project and provided trial graphics and animation. Exponent also analyzed and responded to subcontractor mechanic liens filed against the project due to claims sought by various trade contractors.
