AIJA 60th International Young Lawyers’ Congress
The Association Internationale des Jeunes Avocats — International Association of Young Lawyers (AIJA) will host the 60th International Young Lawyers’ Congress in Singapore, August 22-27, 2022. AIJA is an incredible community-minded organization of young international professionals. The mission of this year’s conference is to make all young lawyers ready to emerge as tomorrow’s leaders. Toward this end, the conference theme, “The Future of the Legal Profession: Reunite and Embrace the Change,” emphasizes addressing clients’ ever-shifting needs by strategically aligning technology, systems, and processes while preserving the core values of sustainability, diversity, and ethical progress.
As a sponsor of the AIJA 60th Annual Congress, Exponent is proud to support relationship building among legal, industry, and technical experts, to bridge the gap between stakeholders at the global scale, and to help develop the next generation of leaders.
Nareg Sinenian, Ph.D., Exponent senior managing scientist, will speak as a panelist during session #9 (virtual), “Dispute Resolution in Asia,” on Wednesday, August 24, at 11:45 AM. The panel will mainly address the typical aspects of litigation in Asia, taking the Singapore International Commercial Court (SICC; new procedural rules implied in April 2021) as a starting point. Since e-litigation has quickly progressed in Asia, the panel will also discuss the pros and cons and how other jurisdictions can learn from the technically advanced courts of Singapore (e.g., SG Courts mobile app to manage cases). The session will also tackle any specifics in Asian litigation that foreign practitioners should be aware of.
