Dr. Huang specializes in geotechnical engineering, earthquake engineering, and assessment of natural disasters using remote sensing and artificial intelligence (AI) techniques. She has experience in landslide detection, infrastructure monitoring, seismic hazard analysis, retaining wall design, and failure analysis of dams and slopes.

Dr. Huang received her Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. Her doctoral research focused on the application of AI techniques to remote sensing data such as satellite and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) data. Her research was implemented to the evaluation of ground movement and failure detection of slopes as well as to the monitoring of existing infrastructure. Dr. Huang developed and implemented monitoring systems based on data collected from satellites and UAVs and used her analyses for the evaluation of infrastructure failure, such as highways, dams, and mining facilities as well as naturals slopes. Her work included the application of machine learning algorithms in landslide detection and ground mobility assessment. Dr. Huang also has experience in seismic hazard analysis and the design of geotechnical engineered structures such as foundations and retaining walls.
