Mr Bartlett is an experienced regulatory toxicologist with 20 years working in industry. His main role at Exponent is to provide technical, scientific and regulatory advice in the field of mammalian toxicology and its implications for human hazard and risk assessment, in support of the global registration of plant protection products, biocides, industrial chemicals, food and consumer products.

Richard has previously worked as a preclinical Study Director and Principal Toxicologist, specializing in Developmental and Reproductive Toxicology (DART), and more recently as a human health risk assessor for consumer products and industrial chemicals. Over his 15 years at contract research organizations, Richard has gained in depth technical knowledge of designing DART testing strategies and study directing a wide range of mammalian in vivo toxicity studies for pharmaceuticals, biologicals, agrochemicals and industrial chemicals and is therefore expertly placed to perform robust assessment of in vivo mammalian toxicity data and provide solutions for complex techno-regulatory problems.

Richard is a European Registered Toxicologist and Chartered Biologist. He is also a past secretary for the European Teratology Society and is currently an editorial Board Member for the journal of Reproductive Toxicology.

Richard is experienced in conducting human health risk assessments and assuring the global regulatory compliance of formulated consumer products such as cosmetics, toys and household products. Through his work in this field he was appointed as an independent toxicology expert on the British Standards Institution (BSI) toy safety committee.
