Carol Beevers
Carol Beevers, Ph.D.
Managing Scientist
Chemical Regulation & Food Safety
Harrogate (UK)

Dr. Beevers specializes in genetic toxicology with emphasis on testing strategies to determine mode of action and human relevance of findings. She has 20 years of experience at a contract research organization, study directing in vitro and in vivo genotoxicity tests and designing testing strategies for a diverse range of substances such as agrochemicals, biocides, industrial chemicals, food flavourings, pharmaceuticals, etc. Dr. Beevers has published over 15 papers in peer reviewed journals and presented at many international conferences. She is a member of the UK Committee on Mutagenicity of Chemicals in Food, Consumer Products and the Environment (COM) and several international working groups on genotoxicity testing. Dr. Beevers was a member of the OECD Expert Group for test guideline 489 on the comet assay.

Dr. Beevers is a member of two working groups within the International Life Sciences Institute (ILSI)/Health and Environmental Sciences Institute (HESI) Genetic Toxicology Testing Committee (GTTC), focusing on in vivo genotoxicity testing strategies and germ cell mutagenesis. She is also involved in the International Workgroup on Genotoxicity Testing (IWGT), working on the comet assay, in vivo micronucleus testing in alternative tissues and in vivo testing strategies. In 2012, Dr. Beevers was invited to present to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) at a technical discussion session on the Transgenic Rodent Gene Mutation Assay.
