Mr. Bertone specializes in mechanical testing and wear testing of medical devices. He has experience developing custom material testing protocols and methods for various medical devices as well as consumer products. Mr. Bertone is proficient in operation of MTS axial/torsional mechanical load frames, MTS spine wear simulators, AMTI knee wear testers, as well as pin-on-disk testers. Additionally, he has experience in designing customized test fixtures for these pieces of equipment. Mr. Bertone’s other laboratory capabilities include but are not limited to white light interferometry (WLI), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and roundness measurements using a Talyrond instrument.
Prior to joining Exponent, Mr. Bertone worked on the development of an automated urine flow meter that utilized thermal mass flow applications. He was responsible for development of the data processing algorithms and GUI. Mr. Bertone also has knowledge of regulatory pathways for medical devices and pharmaceuticals, as well as commercialization strategies.
