Mr. Donnan has an extensive amount of experience in the fields of construction, engineering, and facility operations and maintenance. His facilities experience includes ammonia refrigeration, HVAC, boilers, and compressed air. His construction experience includes contract management, project management, and military construction. He has led cross functional teams and has a diversity of project experience. Currently, Mr. Donnan advises clients on a range of topics including project planning, project controls, change management, risk management, and the development or defense of construction claims.

Prior to joining Exponent, Mr. Donnan was a Facilities and Utilities Maintenance Supervisor for Nestlé. During his tenure at Nestlé he was responsible for the operations and maintenance of the ammonia refrigeration system, compressed air system, boilers, and building automation system at an ice cream production facility. Additionally, he was an Engineer Officer in the US Army where he held several positions and worked on many different types of military projects. His military experience includes working for the US Army Corps of Engineers in Afghanistan on several major government contracts.

Project Experience

Mr. Donnan has developed as-built data for the fabrication of 1,000 ton loading platform module and several piperack modules for a marine LNG project, including the review and analysis of the fabrication contractor’s schedules and contemporaneous correspondence.

Mr. Donnan has analyzed project schedules and the contractor’s as-built data for a public, multi-family housing project.

Mr. Donnan led his team of 13 engineer technicians through a $17 million dollar ammonia upgrade project. He organized his team’s commissioning and critical outage activities and coordinated the training program for the new upgrades.

Mr. Donnan managed three capacity development projects valued at $2 million in Kabul, Afghanistan. He was responsible for managing the construction quality assurance training program for local Afghan employees. He organized several training seminars on Primavera scheduling and contract dispute resolution.

Mr. Donnan served as a contracting officer’s representative on the Afghan National Security Forces Operations and Maintenance contract valued at $450 million. He was responsible for identifying critical infrastructure and coordinating appropriate maintenance support with the contractor.
