Project Experience

Coordinates with various stakeholders throughout the consumer product supply chain to develop wearable electronic device products that minimize risk of dermal sensitization and maximize biocompatibility. Approach involves leach testing of components to assess potential and predicting allergic contact dermatitis elicitation risk from leached materials using predictive risk model.

Developed exposure models for a Proposition 65 compliance calculator for a large product line of industrial cleaning products. Tailor-made exposure models were applied to both consumer and occupational use scenarios. Results of calculator models helped to prioritize resources and further review of high-interest chemicals and products.

Designed and led the implementation of a qualitative exposure assessment in aerospace and automotive manufacturing settings. Analysis included a basic characterization of potential chemical exposures for workers by understanding work tasks, chemical agents, and potential health effects associated with those work tasks; identification of similar exposure groups (SEGs) of workers; creation of exposure profiles based on both qualitative information and available quantitative measurement data; and prioritization of work tasks resulting in potential exposures with SEGs for the purposes of additional evaluation.

Experience applying regulatory and non-regulatory consumer product exposure modeling tools including ConsExpo, Crystal Ball, and ECETOC Targeted Risk Assessment.

Experienced in industrial hygiene evaluations of residential and industrial mold and moisture, as well as design and implementation of vapor intrusion, indoor air quality, and hospital disinfection system sampling and evaluation. Also experienced in the design and implementation of wildfire impact assessment survey and sampling plans in residential environments. Designed and conducted numerous Proposition 65 evaluations assessing potential consumer exposure to various chemicals, including: benzene, styrene, acrylamide, lead, cadmium, nickel, phthalates, BPA, flame retardants, fragrances, and formaldehyde associated with various products (e.g., PVC, jewelry, containers, toys, cookware and tableware, appliances, personal care products, and food).

Managed a project comparing various occupational and non-occupational hazard, exposure and risk assessment tools and their applications in corporate and regulatory settings. Evaluated the similarities and differences in methodology of chemical hazard evaluation between hazard assessment tools.
