Mr. Jain joined Exponent after attaining more than five years of automotive industry experience with early-stage automotive startups. Mr. Jain specializes in motor vehicle accident crash analyses and reconstruction using momentum- and energy-based reconstruction methods. He has expertise in imaging Event Data Recorders and conducts vehicle and crash site inspections. Mr. Jain also has experience and proficiency in product development, failure mode analyses, and reliability assessments of products. He has expertise in multiple CAD and FEA simulation packages, including CATIA V6, Solidworks, Abaqus, and Ansys. He has led the design and development of seats for various vehicle programs and markets, conducted full-scale vehicle and component tests, and analyzed seat structure durability and performance. He has experience with a wide variety of regulatory requirements, including Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS), US NCAP, Euro NCAP, and ECE regulations.

During his time in the industry, Mr. Jain was responsible for designing and developing full-scale vehicle models, known as package bucks, and conducting packaging and ergonomic evaluations for interior and exterior components. Mr. Jain has experience in product lifecycles and testing programs and has successfully executed the BETA development lifecycle for the seats. Mr. Jain also has expertise in prototyping, rapid prototyping, and machining and is trained in the use of precision electronic measurement systems, such as the FARO Edge and Laser Scanner.

Mr. Jain’s graduate research, involving the implementation of advanced Finite Element Method (XFEM) and the Cohesive Zone models to investigate crack initiation and propagation in gas pipelines, was featured in the Department of Transportation PMHSA R&D conference. Mr. Jain has previously worked on design, fabrication, and flight testing of autonomous lighter-than-air aircraft, particularly with respect to maximum payloads and autonomous parking or docking.

Mr. Jain graduated with a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Arizona State University in 2015, a Master of Science degree in Project Management from Harrisburg University in 2018, and a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology, India in 2012. He has been an active member of SAE’s Baja and Formula Racing teams.
