Mr. Martinez has over three years of experience in management of construction and utilities projects. He has worked as a project manager, assistant project manager, and project engineer on different types of construction projects from commercial tenant improvements to MEP infrastructure renovations. Mr. Martinez has experience leading multidisciplinary teams and has been involved in all stages of projects, from conceptual planning to closeout.

At Exponent, Mr. Martinez provides project management services to a major utility client on its electric transmission construction programs. His projects involve electric transmission facilities relocations, generation-site interconnections, and substation decommissioning. Mr. Martinez oversees all stages of the project lifecycle, develops and maintains resource-loaded schedules, forecasts costs, mitigates project risk, coordinates with third-party customers and project team members, and produces project status reporting.

Prior to joining Exponent, Mr. Martinez spent two years at Turner Construction, working on a range of large-scale projects including MEP infrastructure, medical facilities, and commercial tenant improvements. He managed the successful commissioning of 40 HVAC units and an emergency generator of a commercial high-rise building while also performing project controls and assisting in project engineering. Mr. Martinez received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, with a minor in Business from Cornell University in 2017.

Project Experience

Electric Utilities – Serve as project manager on a portfolio of 12 electric transmission relocations and interconnection projects ranging in size from $250k - $2.6M from project initiation to closeout. Coordinate with key stakeholders, generate and maintain resource-loaded project schedules in Primavera P6, perform project controls including cost forecasting, change control, document control, and project status reporting.

MEP Infrastructure – Led commissioning process of 40 commercial-grade HVAC units and emergency generator. Managed 15+ highly specialized trades in the renovation of a building’s entire MEP infrastructure from HVAC units and risers to electrical systems to fire protection. Produced customer updates, labor reports, and performed project engineering controls.

Tenant Improvement – Oversaw demolition and fit-out of 19 stories of an occupied, commercial high-rise in Midtown Manhattan. Performed weekly progress tracking & reporting, managed subcontractors, coordinated asbestos abatement, and performed document control.

Residential Construction – Assisted in the construction and renovation of multi-million-dollar residential homes. Managed subcontractors, coordinated material suppliers, and communicated with lead architects & engineers.
