Dr. Mousavi specializes in rigid/flexible multi-body dynamic systems, vehicle and tire dynamics, accident reconstruction, and design and finite element analysis of mechanical systems. Her expertise in accident reconstruction includes 3D scanning and photogrammetry techniques; drone data collection and analysis to create Orthomosaic maps; and event data recording (EDR) and engine control module (ECM) data analysis. Prior to joining Exponent, Dr. Mousavi’s work in industry included performing finite element analysis of bolted joints for wind turbine towers, designing a 4 degree-of-freedom mechanism to transfer molten aluminum (including the dynamic analysis), and investigating changes required to convert diesel vehicles to hybrids. Her “tool box” for modeling, simulation, and finite element analyses includes software such as Abaqus, Inventor, HVE, Rhino, PIX4D, and others.

Dr. Mousavi’s experience includes performing a comprehensive study on tire interactions with different types of roads and surface conditions (ice, snow, soil, asphalts) including experimental, analytical, and numerical analyses of the effects of tire materials and tread design on vehicle performance. Dr. Mousavi continues her professional development and service through active membership in SAE International and the International Society for Terrain-Vehicle Systems. She has also served as an organizer, co-organizer, and reviewer for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) as a member of the Vehicle Design Committee.
